Air Conditioning

Hello All,I am thinking of installing an ac system on the boat. Either a SeaMach ceiling mount.. which is 13,500 btu and has heating... it only has to be mounted and wired... or a full blown 10,000 btu marine unit, which I now have, requiring.... mounting.. wiring.. water pump.. thru-hulls.. hoses ... ducting... and other stuff like... tearing up the interior... losing storage space and stuff like that... the only thing I would be losing is the salon ceiling hatch with the SeaMach AC.... help? thoughts.... thanks...

Question:In LA, like SC, AC is a must at the dock. I have a hatch-unit that keeps me cas ool as I can stand, and it goes into the dock box whenever I get underwegh. Smooth Sailing

Condensation

On our previous boat (H26) we used a hatch style unit from CruisAir. Worked very well at night. The condensation drained overboard accross the fore deck. How does the one your thinking of drain the condensation? I installed a central air unit in our new boat and love it. We got creative with its location and didn't lose much storage space at all.Jeff"Gail Force" 1993 H33.5

Our hatch model worked very well at night on our H26. However since the boat wasn't insulated the unit couldn't keep up during the day. On our new used boat (1993 H33.5) I raised the Nav table 5-6" and built a shelf below for the central air unit to sit on. I then boxed it all in with mahogany plywood. Turned out great. We have a 16,500 BTU unit with electric heat. Jeff
