I'm looking to buy a Cat350 and wonder what and where to put an Air Conditioning system?
Thanks
Terry
I looked at one that had a small unit in the vee berth atop the hanging locker. IIRC it was around 6k unit that just cooled that cabin for sleeping. I think it was a Mabru 12v unit, very compact, and even ran off the battery bank.

Webasto FCF Platinum Air Conditioning Unit with Reverse-Cycle Heat
120VAC 12000 BTU for $1900 from Defender.com.

This is the unit I have on my Catalina 30 since 2016, its great. I installed it myself, it wasn't hard at all. The 1600 BTU unit is only $2042.

I decided to get a real marine AC after using a 5000 BTU window unit mounted in the passage way. It was easy enough for me to set up and take it down but it was a bit of a pain if we want to go in and out while the AC is setup. But over time I became concern if in an emergency could my wife move the AC unit by herself and get out, so I bit the bullet and bought the above unit, no regrets.

It depends on what you plan on cooling (whole boat, cabin only) and if you are going to run it off batteries. I wouldn’t opt for the 12V DC models. The 120V AC variable speed compressor models are just as efficient and you save a lot of money. Also no need for a soft start. Defender has the Velair 16kBTU for $3100. We have the sister brand (Frigomar).
