I know there are many posts out the on AC on a 34 Oday. Can anyone send me pictures so I can understand the install and see just what my options are.
Thanks
Pat
I installed air conditioning on my ODay 34 last year but, unfortunately, don't have any pictures of the installation and won't be able to take any until next weekend.
I installed an Ocean Breeze 16,700 btu unit in the starboard hanging locker opposite the head. It's mounted on a piece of plywood at the bottom of the locker. I chose Ocean Breeze because it's entirely stainless steel and compact enough to fit in the available locker space. The company gave me terrific support and the installation was a bit time-consuming, but the results were more than worth it.
The unit easily fit into the locker with a sufficient amount of working room. I configured the discharge ducts on either side wall of the locker; two facing the main salon, and one facing the V-berth. The water inlet and filter was installed below the starboard seat just aft of the locker. I ran dedicated wiring from the AC panel to the locker. Should you choose Ocean Breeze, you'd be well advised to purchase their installation kit; it's very complete and makes the installation much easier.
The difference was incredible! This past weekend we slept under a sheet and blanket in the v-berth; the outside temperature was 88 degrees and humid, the inside was at 69 degrees and almost chilly.
Not cheap, but it makes the boat much more livable during the summer months.
