Merrythought. Catalina really isn't prepared

to know your exact needs or installation. If you feel uncomfortable with Boat Wiring and electricity then you should hire a marine electrician or have a trusted knowledgable friend do it, its as simple as that. I can almost gaurantee that a marine electrician will strongly recommend a 2nd 120 VAC inlet correctly installed And I can bet dollars to donuts that if Catalina was installing the AirConditioner they'd do the same and recommend such. Its your decision, knowledge is everything. But for the novice, erring on the side of caution is wise.

If You Put It All Together...

...then there are only three things to do, and make sure you do them right: 1. The wiring TO the boat from the dock. Two inlets on your boat require two plugs at the dock as recommended above. Just splitting one dock outlet into two to run to your boat don't make it work. 2. The wiring INSIDE your boat. The wiring to each device must be sized properly. 3. The breakers on the individual feeds to the equipment need to be sized properly. Great discussion here. Stu PS Most liikely you won't hear from catalina or get any specific answer. It's "not their baby" anymore. I haven't seen any come out of the factory with duplex inlets, so how would they be able to help?

AC and Shorepower

What I was looking for from Catalina is how many shore power outlets are on the boats on which AC is installed by Catalina and whether 30 or 50 amp. I was especially interested in the 310 since it is closest in size to the 28. BTW, I was able to get the recommended AC BTU from Catalina via e-mail but forgot to ask about shorepower.

Probably not. Our P42 came with dual 30 amp...

service. We have a 16K and a 9K heat pump on board and I've never had to have both services connected. You should be able to run your AC (ten amps) and water heater (ten amps) at the same time. I do it all the time. I know I cannot run both heat pumps and the water heater at the same time, because they draw about 35 amps altogether. I would try it first before adding a second 30 amp service. Terry
