We've just purchased a '99 Catalina 380 so have only had it our a couple of times. Haven't been able to get any cool air out of the air conditioner and it appears it's because there is no water going thru it. Weren't able to locate where the water intake valve and filter are. Can anyone help us shed any light on this? Also the drain in the head floor dosn't drain. Can't tell from any of the diagrams in the owners manual where that floor drain goes. Thought it might be connected to the shower drain but turning on the shower drain pump doesn't also drain the head floor drain . Any thoughts on what the problem could be other than maybe just being plugged and the best way to unplug it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The boat is probably still under warranty in regards to the AC. I don't know about this specific model but I'm wondering if there's a thru-hull related to your shower not draining. Learn yoga and then contort your body enough to find where the drain line runs. LaDonna

A/C check

Hi: The A/C filter sea water filter is usually the culprit. With heavy use and warm water usage it is not unusual to have to clean it monthly. Our 36 has the filter and pump under the aft berth. Also turn on the a/c and listen to hear the whir (sound) of the pump. This pump generally has a magnetic coupling and this can also sometimes become plugged. If you can't hear or feel the pump humming, look to replace that. Then check the filter too. Best of luck with the problem. Rick S/V Illusion Cat 36 #770

A/C Problems

Our through-hull for A/C use was factory installed and is in a compartment just forward of the batteries and aft of galley counter. Filter is in a sight glass arrangement right next to through hull and pump is immediately downstream from filter. We have two Marine Airrrr systems and I've found that the compressors will stop shortly after being turned on if the cooling water is not flowing and an error message will flash on the t'stat readout. It may be as simple as through-hull not being open? Do see water coming through outlets outside the boat? I think the floor drain in the head is led to the bilge
