Air Conditioner Question

I have a couple of friends who purchased portable window-unit air conditioners and use them in the companion-way. They fashion new companion-way boards to surround the a/c. It's a great location for the a/c as it is very effective in cooling the entire boat with blowing directly on any particular location. These units are 5,000 btu units, light-weight, plastic bodies with a carrying handle. I have searched all over and have been unable to find any units similar to these. Any one know where I might find this type of a/c unit? Thanks for the help.

Standard window unit...

I just finished installing a standard metal window unit in the hatchway. It just fits in the hatchway and takes up the bottom two hatchboards. I built a wooden u shaped plywood cutout to fit over the top of the ac unit and slide into to hatchboard tracks on both sides. Mine is a 6000btu unit and cools the c30 quite well even in 95 sunny days with no tarp over the boat. However, when we did put a tarp over the boat, it was much cooler inside. I have never seen a plastic unit other than the expensive Marine unit that is designed to work in the front hatch on the bow. Paul
