Just had my 1999 "410"pulled for the first time for summer bottom painting and waxing.I hand waxed the hull and discovered air bubble pock marks. The starboard hull Gel Coat is blemished with between 25 to 35 air bubble pock marks, each approximately 1/8” in dia. The port hull Gel Coat is also blemished with air bubble pock marks, each approximately 1/8” in dia. but to a lesser amount. My previous Hunter 35.5, which I also hand polished several times had no such imperfections in the gelcoat. Is this a condition that should have been repaired by the factory befor the 410 was shipped ? Can this problem be corrected under the existing warranty protection program? I am waiting a reply from the dealer. Any additional comments appreciated.

pock marks?

What do you mean air bubble pock marks? where they there when you bought the boat or have they just recently show up?It sounds like "BLISTERS" to me and if so they should be covered under warrenty! other then that the gel coat could have been scared when then removed the hull from the mold, either way hunter should repair. Ley us know what the outcome is!

Call the factory

Unless you have an exceptional dealer, I would go straight to the factory with your questions. Eddie Breeden is a great guy. His telephone number is 800 771-5556, ext 3032.

Blisters on 410

I have a 1998 410 and had problems with the dealer-performed bottom paint flaking off. While the boat was pulled to repaint, we noticed quite a few small blisters on both the hull and rudder. Hunter is aware of this and will fix them at our next pull-out. Our local yard man felt that at the time they could wait, and that in another year or two more blisters may show up. Hunter authorized our local yard to sand down the rudder and epoxy it at their expense. Yjou should definitely let Hunter service people know about this problem, documenting with pictures if possible. I've found Eddie and Greg Emerson to be great people to work with thus far. Best of luck. Chris Webb s/v Grand Cru II
