My P42 has located the filter for the AC below the level of the water pump, so that each time the filter is cleaned, the water drains from the pump and the pump looses its prime Can someone recommend a location for an air blead in such a system, before or after the pump??

Same Problem

I'll give you my serious answers first - then a funny one that occured to me. I ocassionally have the same problem and have found no solution other than restarting several time to pull the water up in the initial "rush". That has worked for me before. Maybe, we could add a valve between the pump and the filter to prevent the water draining out with the filter removed. Replacing the filter and "burping" the filter container should fill the hose between the filter and the pump. Then we could open the valve and start it back up. --------- OK, Now for the other answer. Maybe we should wait until high tide and the water level outside comes up. That way, the outside pressure would "level everything off" Ron Parkes s/v Contemplation H320

Tee

My A/C has a tee between the pump and the filter. You just open the one end and that lets the air out. I always have someone standing by the switch when I do it.

Don't know if this will help,

Have you considered a valve between the filter and the pump? shut the valve before cleaning the filter, open as soon as you finish, result will be no loss of prime, locate the valve close to the filter end of the hose. Best of luck!

Shake the pump

The following has worked for me.. turn the a/c on .. and as soon as you here the compressor kick in... shake/wiggle the pump by hand.. for whatever reason the prime takes.. at least for me
