Just read the latest UK-Halsey newletter. Seems a customer has developed an air-batten system for furling mains. Battens can be inflated and deflated individually as required. Afraid to ask the cost. Scroll down about half the page. http://www.ukhalsey.com/newsletter/july07/

geez.... 0 responses

maybe I should have mentioned this was designed with help from a higher being or posted a pic. of my lovely wife in her string bikini. With all the discussions on furling main sails poor performance, I thought this may be of some interest. I found it quite interesting technology or should that be left to an entirely different forum. ;)

More Details?

I am waiting for more details. The theory is great, but I am waiting to see how the will inflate the battens.

Noticing

That theres a coily air-hose running along the boom, and into the sail about 7/8 of the way back. then small diameter airhose in the leech?

I would like to see more detail as well

interesting theory tho. The coiled air hose must go to another up the leach as Brian said, and maybe some sort of valve on each batten with a main controller in the cockpit.
