Need help! Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the boom vang, main sheet and reefing points are configured on a H22? Also, how is the clew of the main sail attached to the aft of the boom? There is a clevis pin just aloft of the block for the boom lift; but the clew is too wide to fit directly on the pin. Assume there is something that goes between the two...?..Seth

H22 mainsail & boom

I'm not sure that they're the same, but our H23 might be very similar. Check out the photos of the H22 in the Boat Specs & Photos section of this site. What I can make out from the pix seems to be the same as the '23'. Maybe you can get some clues there. Do you have the jiffy reefing boom with the 3 blocks inside and the foot of your mainsail in a groove? If you have this setup, then I can send you a photo of our's. Jim Maroldo s/v: Lil' Wass Ett

Pics would also be appreciated

Jim, I also have a 22 with the 3 block system. If it's not a major hassle, I'd love to see how someone else has it rigged. I have one line for the topping lift, one attached to my reef clew, but for the main clew, I just have it tied off point on the boom, not really run through the boom because I didn't feel like fishtaping it through. My e-mial is davidgrolman@legendary.net if you get a chance to send. thanks! dlg

clew and reef lines

The clew of the sail attaches to a line (mine is rope to wire) that goes over a sheave at the aft end of the boom, then runs forward to exit the boom at the front. At the front end of the boom you will see 3 exit holes for lines. the middle one (at the bottom of the front end) is for the clew outhaul line. You then run the line back to a cleat on the boom. The other two exit holes have little lever cleats and little sheaves. This is where the topping lift adjustment line and reefing line exit on my boat. If your sail has two reef points, you could use one for each jiffy reefing line. If this is not clear, email me at bpratt0043@earthlink.net and I will try to remember to photograph my setup and email it to you.

Billy; Thank you very much for your help! This is much more clear to me now. Assuming we have the same boom, what is the clevis pin used for on the aft end of the boom?...Seth PS - would love PICS at bachs04@hotmail.com
