Sorry Seadance

What the heck. The price is right and what the worst that can happen, you sell the boat in five years at a small loss. The one point I was trying to make about the 3 blade prop is, it looked used (if it is the one in the pic). I would get any used prop reconditioned. I got mine done this year and man what a difference. One of the blade was not in spec. It cost $170 in the northeast. I'll bet it would cost less than 100 buck down south. I would still get a survey to protect myself from hidden damage that could cost a lot to repair. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't. I just bought a boat only a few years out and the bank sad I didn't need a survey to get the loan, I did anyway. I don't know about down south but up here a boat is a hole in the water topour money. :( Good Luck and Best Wishes, you going to love sailing!

Good Reading

This surveyor is tough on productions boats but he has some good points. I would not let his tough boat talk upset you but he has some good points.

Waffle no hard feelings. My husband always said Boat meant "bring on another thousand." I'm off to take the batch of toffee and caramel chocolate chip cookies out of the oven that I made for my boys for their sailing trip. I'll be enjoying one as I read your link. I never pass up a good read. Thanks for the article. B/Seadance

I have to echo Waffle on this one, David Pascoe's

website is a great read for boat owners and prospective buyers but beware that it could take more than a whole day to read it all. One of his books is also required reading for a survey course I am enrolled in that costs $95, ouch, but probably well worth it in the long run. Maybe I will advertise here in the future but not in this forum but in the classifieds where it belongs. Phil, if the David Pascoe website is not linked yet I think it should be. All I can say to Seadance is to enjoy it. You are in a great part of the world for sailboat owners given the longer season. I guarantee (like any surveyor could) that you will enjoy at least some of the benefits like being out with the family having dinner before sunset while at anchor in some secluded bayou or canal or watching the full moon rise from the boat. It can become more of an addiction than an attraction so beware! Congrats and Enjoy! CalebD Tartan 27' from 1967

Seadance, i have a wonderful receipe

for traveling muffins. Combine one cup each of; rolled oats, all purpose flour, diced ham and diced sharp cheddar cheese. Add one tablespoon baking powder, one half teaspoon salt, one quarter teaspoon black pepper, Moisten with one cup of milk, one egg and two tablespoons of bacon fat or cooking oil. Bake in muffin pan about 25 minutes at 375-400 . The only problem with them is that they seem to disappear. Enjoy your boat and the summer. Ross

Sewing and now Recipes?

Seadance is becoming and bad influence on this crowd. A couple of months ago it was all about rum and naked women. What’s next, tea cozies and doilies?

Tea and crumpets anyone?

A self sufficient cruising sailor know how to cook meals from scratch and make repairs with needle and thread as well as how to replace seacocks and do maintenance of engines and rigging. I learned how to use a sewing kit in the marines (we called the sewing kit a "housewife")
