Got a second coat of bottom paint on today. Added some new "bling" too, a brand new shiny shaft.:dance:

Looks great Tom. Hey do you get a lot of crustacean build up in Bath? I have a friend over in Cypress Landing with a power boat. It used to be a fresh water boat so I don't think he painted the bottom. He ended up with a barnacle problem. Just curious about the brackish water in the rivers. Down in Beaufort I manage a barnacle, sponge, and oyster farm. Cleaning the prop in my scuba gear is especially fun.
Looks great. Very jealous that you can paint already. I still have 2 months 3 weeks and 4 days until we launch.
WOW, looks super, did you get to wax the hull? it looks good as well. I found a yard that would let me do some work myself and I compounded and waxed the hull and it looked good for a while but now it looks like I never did it. A friend in the marina suggested I wet sand the gel coat to get a really good shine.....
Dave, I'm pretty close to the mouth of the Pamlico River so it's pretty salty. I have to dive on her every other month to clean the running gear.
The previous owner had the hull painted in 2000 with awlgrip. It shines pretty good to be 13 years old. I rinse it off everyonce in awhile with fresh water that's about all I do. Never waxed it.

I still need to paint under the stands. I had planned to paint them this week and put her back in the water Saturday but a cold snap caught me. Looks like I'm going to have to wait until next week to paint. It's going in the high 60's again, I hope the following Saturdays weather is good for my 3 hour run from the marina back to my dock.
It was a cold 3 hour trip down the Pamlico river this morning. The marina dropped me in the water this morning and after ensuring there were no leaks and adjusting the stuffing box, I headed out for home.
It sure is nice to have my baby home.

What do you think about your 3 blade prop? I'm interested to know how it performs. I have the universal 12 (10hp) and today with a clean bottom I was able to turn 3250 rpm at 6.4 knots. I pretty much cruise at 2600 rpm at 5.8 knots. I was wondering if the 3 blade would help any.

Well the prop works good, its a 12 inch i think but the big helper is that the previous owner went all out and installed a new 22 hp beta marine diesel engine in 2009, but i usually try to run her around 2800 rpm and get about 5 knts cruise speed
