After the first coat...

Does someone have a bit of wisdom on how and when to apply a second coat of paint after the first? I just applied a first coat of topside one part urethane and need to know how to treat the first coat i.e. preparation for the second coat and how long after painting the first coat do I wait. Any wisdom appreciated!

Wondering, were there manufacturers instructions on the paint can label?

Instructions are on the label.....or the manufacturer's website. But when I've used Brightside, let it dry overnight and lightly sand with 3 or 4 hundred grit between coats. Don't sand after the final coat...

Yeah, I’ve done that and have painted boats with urethane since 1976 as a boy however I wanted some anecdotal evidence. You can read directions verbatim however you can’t beat experience.
