I just bought a 1986 Hunter 34. I filled up the water tank using the fill on the forward port side. I have water presssure. Everything seems fine. I was poking around and found what appears to be another water fill aft which was under the lift up step that also exposes the emergency tiller. Anybody know what that is for?

Yup.. There is an aft water tank. The selector valve is in the port side locker under the cushion just forward of teh front of the forward water tank. I keep the aft tank empty unless it is needed for longer trips, since the boat goes better with less weight aft. See previous thread about "spoon" . I don't remember the capacities offhand, but they are something like 45 gallons forward tank and 20 gallons aft tank..

Replace the selector switch with two ball valves.
Move the aft tank fill to a more reasonable location.
The aft tank is covered by the panel at the back of the aft berth.
