306/290 leak
Vic,We have a 306 (basically the same boat) purchased in Fall 2004. We had a leak in the aft cabin which the dealer finally fixed after several tries. The leak dripped on to the top of the fiberglass head liner in the aft cabin, and you would see it where the head liner meets the aft bulkhead (there's a depression molded into the head liner there, sort of like a hand-grip).It turned out to come from the place where the wires from various instruments pass from the cabin interior up into the steering pedestal. There is a channel molded into the deck, which is where the water drains from the cockpit: it's covered up by a panel which you're standing on when you steer. When water gets into this large channel from rain or washing the boat, it will run down the wiring and into the cabin on top of the headliner, before dripping next to the bulkhead onto the mattress. This is all from what the technician told us, and from what we can observe from looking at it from the cabin and the cockpit: I never observed it directly, but he definitely fixed the leak. I would assume you need to remove the panel in the cockpit just aft of the pedestal, and then you should be able to caulk the hole. I don't believe this is hard to do: good luck.Jay
