Can anyone tell me what the rails and the round device above the shelf in the aft cabin are for and how to use them?

Tks for posting. Sorry to say I haven't a clue, but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Is it possible they were used to store a table and leg?

My 2002 310 came with what they call a cocktail table. About a couple of square feet of table top with 4 corner pockets for drinks and space between them for snacks. The regular table is stowed aft on the stbd side using the plastic stops to keep it from moving and having two hooks attached to the outside bulkhead securing it in place. Have never used the small table but it makes moving around the cabin easier and gives a secure place to put your drink whatever it is. If I can find my small table will submit a photo of it.

Yes, looks like something to store large flat panels: companionway hatch boards or a table.

Thanks all. We don’t have the cocktail table but wish we did! I’ve tried the Tetris puzzle with cockpit cushions but failed. The round device is a mystery but could be for shock cord I suppose. I bought and fitted a cockpit table but it is designed to stay in place folded against the pedestal, so I don’t think that is it either.

I think the round wood piece is spun 180 degrees to keep the panels in place.

My 309 has the large folding table. When stowed in the aft berth, the white strips in the shelf capture the lower edge of the folded table. The round disks capture the top of the table. Rotate them to secure/release the table, as dmax suggested.
