We have rain water leaking into our aft cabin. It only occurs during very heavy rains. Not sure where it's coming from. Any ideas?

Lots of possibilities. Overhead leaks can come from the screws holding the floor panel in the cockpit. The fixed side ports can leak as well. The fiberglass floor that the aft cabin mattress sits on actually continues aft under the wooden aft bulkhead and forms the floor support and pan for the holding tank to starboard and the diesel fuel tank to port. There are many sources of leaks from items attached to the cockpit coaming - arch support (especially the screws), stern rail, waste pump-out, fuel fill, vents, shore power connector, etc. When any of these things leak (and they always do), the water flows down into the lazarette on either side, then down around one of the tanks and then under the bulkhead and your mattress. You can look for water accumulating in the lazarette and see if there is any water staining on the underside of the wooden panels that cover either of the aft tanks. Good Luck!

The area where the wires and controls go thru the cockpit sole and those screw holes are good places to start. I used some putty product to seal the area. These can take a long time to trace down.

I just fixed a leaky aft cabin on our boat. The jibsheet turning block was leaking and needed rebedding.
An old trick used. Close the cabin up tight. Put tape around the hatches. Tape plastic over the companionway and put a small slit in it for a leaf blower. Insert leaf blower and tape it to and turn on. Second person with a bucket of real soapy water and brush brushes rub rail, fittings, etc. and where there are air bubbles, suspect leak. Fix accordingly. What you have done is pressurize the cabin and air has to escape somewhere.
Make sure that you remove the tape quickly after doing this.
