Affordable hot water heater

Looking for an affordable way to heat water for the galley and shower. Does anyone know about the Atwood electric water heater? 6 gal, 110v, 1400w with heat exchange stainless jacket for $300. (11 gal for $419 & 20 gal for $643) Any suggestions? (This is not from Steve - I'm his wife, Kathleen)

The attwood is a good unit for the price, should be a good fit for your boat, if you just weekend on the boat the 6 gallon should do you fine.

standard installation in the Beneteau. Mine is that very unit, 11 years old and going fine.

We have a 6 gallon on our Pearson and it is enough for us - Mother, Father, and 8 year old. The wife has long hair and uses a lot of water. Our thermostat is set hot so it only requires a wee bit of hot water and a lot of cold to make it the right temp. Ours is heated both by the engine and plug in. It is really nice to pull into an anchorage and take hot showers while cruising.

I also lived in Pierpont for 15 years. Used to haunt Ventura harbor for years dreaming of sailboats.

Yes, 6 gal. Plenty big enough. Remember, our water tanks are supplying water that is at least 65 degrees, so a water heater does not need to impart very much heat to warm it. And the supply pump only moves 4 gpm. If the engine is running the heat exchanger provides unlimited hot water.
