Actually, those stickers do have an effect. I was one of two vehicles that got flagged down by a ranger on Sandy Neck for operating over water while driving with an oversand permit. At first I got yelled at by the ranger, then she saw the Mass Chiefs of Police Association sticker on the windshield. The sticker was from the previous year. I was then politely asked who owned the jeep. I said that I did. She politely asked how long I had owned it. I said 3 years. She then left me, went to yell at the alderman's wife in the other jeep, wrote up the alderman's wife & let me go with a polite verbal explanation of the rules.
