...the bilge. Currently my Universal 25 is set-up with a run-off hose attached to an extrusion on the valve cover and let down the side of the engine. This is apparently responsible for a constant light film of oil on my bilge. However, I'm not sure what to do to solve the problem. On car engines this type of engine breathing system is re-attached to the air intake, but I don't see any way of doing this or if this would be a safe solution. Any thoughts are extremely appreciated. Thx -Chuck

A couple of options...

1. Run a longer hose (1/2" id plastic tubing) and stick the end into the foam around the air cleaner. Use wire ties to secure the tubing. 2. Drill a hole into the top of the air cleaner and stick in a 90 degree angled hose barb and attach the tubing to that. 3. Stuff a bottle (like the ones drinking water comes in) alongside the engine and stick the tubing into it. I use method #3 with the mouth of the bottle next to the air cleaner. Oil drips land in the bottle and any oily air mist that rises out the top of the bottle gets sucked into the intake thru the air filter.

I Agree

Solution #3 is the easiest. We use an empty excedrin bottle (large) and relplace it when it gets dirty. The hose is just long enough so that the bottle is on the base of the engine compartment standing up and the hose just reaches the bottom. Others have used an empty beer can with foam inside. Excedrin or beer cans, your choice (Just figure out which comes first!)
