Peg- i have gone thru your book and have gotten to the point that I probably have to replace the hoses on my head (s). Being a penny pinching fool I was wondering if the logic of only replacing the hose from the head to the holding tank with odor penertrating resistant hose and using regular sanitaty hose for the pump out section is sound. Following your theory that the hose is perminated when the debris is left unpumped from the head to the holding tank i was hoping to get away without the high priced hose for the rest- any thoughts?

It's not debris (if any) that permeates hose, it's hoses absorbs waste/liquids and/or gasses generated. So since the pumpout hose coming from the tank at the bottom is always full of waste to the level in the tank, it's actually MORE likely to become permeated--or at least to do so quicker--than the head discharge hose.

Cheaper and Better Method
Folks in the boat business are eager to sell ineffective hose for big bucks. Buy PVC pipe at Home Depot or Lowes for pennies per foot. Fitting are usually under a buck. The system will last forever or longer. A few critics try to disagree but mine's been working eight years with no clogs or smell.
