The bow light on my Hunter 23 is not working. I have traced it to a short in the wires somewhere between the bow light and the point where the wires exit the pulpit in the hull. Unfortunately, the exit point of the wires is in an area between the hull and the anchor locker, which means that you can barely squeeze in with your hand to reach the wires. Also, there seems to be some kind of semi-solid putty on the wires where they exit into the hull (I assume it must have been some kind of sealant) that prevents pulling the wires from the outside. I have tried pulling them from the inside, but because of the narrowness of the space, it feels like the wire(s) will break if I do so. I have tried using an electrician’s snake, but it is not flexible enough to makes the bends of the pulpit. Removing the pulpit is not an option since there is no access to the bolts underneath the supports. Any suggestions on how to get new wires threaded through would be greatly appreciated since I would like to do an evening sail. I have attached photos showing where the wires exit the pulpit to the bow light, and the shape of the pulpit itself. The wires travel up the ‘U’ shape then head aft down the starboard side tube.
