272 Alternator
Dave,Do you have the old one? I had the same problem last year on my 272 after my water pump started leaking and fried my alternator located below it. (sorry, I wrote this before reading Joe's posting. Keep an eye on your water pump, a leak spells alternator trouble!!)My local alternator repair store (automobile) couldn't work on that "furrenn" model,I wasn't sure if a Balmar would fit with out modification, and the WB replacement was too much money and they don't make the same amperage one anymore. Took it in to a marina engine shop (in MD)and they sent it out for rebuild. Cost around $200 and worked fine. I can get you in touch with the shop and they could tell you who can rebuild it if you want to got that route.Good luck,Frank
