I am having trouble with my spill over refrigeration. The freezer side has a tremendous amount of ice build-up which requires defrosting about twice per week. Freon level has been checked and is fine. The build-up of frost on the plate then blocks the two round openings to the refrigeration side preventing it from staying cool. I have the top loading freezer beside the top/front open refrgerator (not water cooled). Two questions, first, reading the archives I realize that the units are not sealing correctly. Can I fix existing gaskets or where do I go to replace them. Other suggestions to prevent frosting. Second, should the fan blow cold air into or out of the refrigerator side? Thank you for your thoughts. Bryce

Reducing Frosting

Notice I said reducing. Frosting is caused by having moisture in side the box. It can be caused by the lid seals leaking and letting the mositure in from outside or you have moisture already on the inside. I freeze ice in my freezer unit and was having major frosting until I started putting the ice tray inside a plastic baggy. I also have a plastic box with a lid that I put the loose ice cubes in. These two changes reduced my frosting by 60%. Now if I could just get a good seal on the lid.

Gaskets

We had the same problem on our 393. The dealer replaced the gaskets on the fridge and freezer and we de-frost every ten days or so now ( depends on humidity). Also in the 393 the evaporator plate is very near the freezer wall so it doesn't take much frost build-up to plug the hole. It also helps to keep the area around the fan in the fridge clear. Rick I
