Good Day,
Well after having a good look at the tension on my steering cable, is it the two extended bolts with the two nuts on the horizontal wheel that adjust the tension? If so, how.
Please and thanks.

Yup, the two bolts with locknuts toward the center of the wheel.. Loosen the two nuts and with wheel hard over, tighten one nut, the one against the wheel, while holding the bolt part. TAke out just a little slack then turn the wheel hard over the other way and do the same there. Work same amount on both sides so your outside wheel stays centered. after you are happy, tighten the outer locknut down TIGHT on both sides. Ya might want to get a friend to look it over when done just as a double check.. This is not something you want to come adrift while underway.

If it's an Edson unit, www.edsonmarine.com has the manuals and instructions, too, in addition toe Kloudie's perfect answer.
FYI Stu and Dennis, the H-34 came with the Merriman Yacht Specialties steering pedestal. Quadrant kind of similar to the Edson. I believe someone posted a pdf file sometimes around 2009 or 2010. Kloudie's way of adjusting is what I do as well and it works like a charm.
