I used silicone on a plexiglass to fiberglass (screwed ) in order to avoid leaks. It does not work. I have been told that there is a adhesive / sealant paste that works. Need info on this product if it is known to anyone.

Silicone was the right sealant to use for acrylic plastics. you might have used a poor quality silicone or did something else wrong. I recommend Dow 795 for this and have had great success with it. I would like to know more about the problem you have had. Do you have any pictures? Silicone will adhere very well to both the plexiglass and fiberglass so there must be another problem, would hate to see you use a different sealant and have the same results.

Dow 795, which is what Hunter told me they used to bed the fixed ports on my 340. BUT, you MUST use a cleaner to get all of the old stuff off, and clean the new plexi, if you want it to work properly. 795 is a structural adhesive used for glazing curtainwall panels for high-rise construction - it'll work well if used as intended.

I am not real familiar with the different brands of sealers and adhesives but the April/May 2013 issue of BoatU.S. Magazine has an extensive article, "How to Pick the Right Sealant" I found quite informative.

I would use a good old fashioned bedding compound, like Bedlast. Been around for a century or more, it is easy to work with and cleans up w/ turps. Also, be certain you aren't tightening the screws too much and warping the windows, let the caulking do it's job.
