The rub rail is a two part system. First, the base is screwed into the hull to deck joint and if that is the case, then clean off the old caulk and go back with 5200 making sure there is caulk on each thread of the screws. Then there is an insert which is pulled out and put back in. On the insert, you will see little groves running the liength of that rubrail. First, if some of the insert is off, all you have to do is insert the upper groove into the upper portion of the base. Then using a flat head screw driver at an angle, insert the lower portion into the bottom groove using the flat head screw driver to force it in. I hope this answers your question.
