I am somewhat confused by what I read and what I was told by the dealer when I bought my Hunter 37.5 (with Yanmar 3jh engine). I was told to add FPPF products Cetane, Lubricity, Killem, and Engine treatment with each fill up. I also understood that I was to use 30wt CD spec oil. I believe this guidance is/was also put out by Yanmar/Mack Boring. In reading this site, I understand that none of this applies. Is this outdated information? Can you clarify what is appropriate? Thanks.

Additive and oil specs

If you use good fuel, additives are not required. The fuel blenders put the right stuff into the fuel before it is sold to you. The biggest benefit from additives is to the guy selling them. As for lube oil, I don't believe you will find oil with the CD rating any more. Oil technology has changed, obsoleting some API ratings and creating new.The 15W 40 oil is now recommended for all small diesels.

Which oil companies

sell high or good quality diesel fuel? In my area "Texico" dominates. Supposedly, Texico diesel has only a 37 cetane rating, while Yanmar requires 45.Am I correct about this?

Which oil companies

I have long touted the Amoco (now BP Amoco) premier grade diesel fuel. It has a minimum cetane rating of 50. It also has consistently blended additives and a narrower distillation range than ordinary #2 diesel fuel. I'm sure that other companies have good diesel fuel but this is the one that I know about and which we use and recommend for all diesel applications, including all our diesel yard equipment.
