additional storage for the C27

I have a new (used!!) 1989 C27 and find the space for storage to be quite limited. As I moved down from a C36 you can understand the situation. I'm sure that many of you have attacked this problem with success and hope that you have some solutions for me.

A week or so ago I asked the group about the brass cabinet catches( 2011 WM catalog p. 558) which are standard hardware on the C27 and the C36'.

If you're creative & don't mind a lil clutter, the storage opportunities abound. Those 3 M self adhesive type hooks which don't require drilling are great 4 hanging clothes, etc. on, & one less hole in your boat is aways a good thing. Wicker type baskets breath well, & are less unsightly on the inner coming shelf -rails for stored items with some hope of orgnizing bits & pieces. Anything stored below the seat lockers or near the bilge should be placed in water tight plastic bins if u want to prevent bilge water / leak damage. Space bags are good to shrinking clothes not used much & prevent mold growth /water damage, etc. I use hanging nets on either side of the V birth for light item storage. Most sailors build a shelf near the bow section of the V birth for storage, as your feet can still fit, even with a shelf above them.
Freeze dried food, pasta, etc. takes up less space, lasts longer & weighs less. I don't know of anyone who actually sleeps in the clousterphobic aft quarter birth on any sailboat. It is the best storage area of all, but can turn into a junk pit quickly!
