Hello, I drained the transmission oil last fall but had trouble adding the new oil back in. It goes in REALLY slowly. I took off the black cap and added oil but gave up as it was taking so long. Now I have to finish the job. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks for your help, Tim La Juin

18hp Volvo Oil is same as engine oil which I don't recall. Nothing very unique though. The opening for adding the oil just seems so small. But, I'm pretty green.......

Oil
I don't have alot of experience with Volvo but, the trans hole should be about 1/2 to 3/4" in dia. When you pull the cap there should be a dipstick, and marking on the outside identifying the trans oil. If this is the place you are trying to fill, try warming the qt of oil. Warm oil flow's better.

Volvo 2000 Series
Tim The black cap is the fill and engine oil is correct. I haven't had any problems changing trans oil. I have a 1991 F310T hull# 037 with a volvo 2002.
