We are considering buying a early 1994 edition of the Hunter 26 W/B. We want a Hunter with the stern rail seats. When inquiring whether stern rail seats can be added, we are getting mixed messages. We've heard everything from "it's no problem" to "it can't be done". We have not found a dealer who confidently states "it's no problem". Hunter Manufacturer states "no problem", but dealerships and yards indicate "it all depends". We hear each boat is different and some need different levels of reinforcement. Another said " you can't add it if there is foam". We will not be doing this ourselves and want to make a decision on this boat soon. Any details or advice you can provide would be appreciated. I just installed mine

I just installed stern rail seats in my '95 H26 three weeks ago. I had no problems. To my great relief, the aluminum reinforcement plates were pre-installed by the factory. All I had to do was position the rails, drill, tap, and mount the rails. If the aluminum plates are not already there, I imagine that I would not have attempted the install. You can check for the reinforcement plates by looking in the stern recess area from the inside (access from the stern berth). You should be able to see a noticeable lump (about 6" x 3") where the rail attaches to the hull. Good Luck

Have the same problem

Let me know what you find out I have heard both Yes and No, I also have a 94. I was going to wait until the season ends and have my dealer try to install.

Worked for me!

Dealer installed them on ours (Hull 198). Definitely worth the effort!
