Is it possible to add slides to a bolt rope foot? Will this change the shape of the sail or performance? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Yes... No and It may improve performance..... look for a sailmaker to make the conversion, ask them about Kiwi Slides.

If the spacing between the slug attachment is even and straight with those already there, will create NO DIFFERENCE. Its is very unusual to add slugs to the foot of a mainsail, especially if the outhaul slug system is 'good', the correct outhaul tension will keep the sail at its proper 'shape' ... even without intermdiate slugs at all. If you are converting from a 'boltrope-in-the-slot' to a slug system, that a different story and the following videos will help.

Here's some videos on the correct way to make/add, etc. the connections: http://search.sailrite.com/?refineT...efineValue~Retail1...00xveske||freeText~slugs .... you may need to login in to see this URL.
