Do you have a second spot on your engine block to attach a Temp Sensor? On my Perkins I have 2 threaded spots to use a thermostat or Temp Sensor. One is set in the block near the pump which provides water temp for the gauge. The second is near the other end of the block, I put in a temp sensor that is set for 200º. This is triggers the ALARM.

They come in various sizes.

Do you have a hot water heater which uses engine water for the heating medium ?

If so, plug in a brass "T" and screw in a temperature Xmitter. You'll have to make a ground for the Xmitter.

My M-25XP has a coolant temperature gauge but no audible alarm. This is fine if you constantly watch the temp gauge but that is not a reality. CD sells a replacement thermostat housing that has a second port for an alarm but is costs $260. Are there any other ways to get an alarm a bit less expensive?

www.cruzpro.com. It is a digital temp gauge with a settable alarm. You could replace your existing gauge with one of these. ,

measures the exhaust hose temperature:
Ooops, only for the loss of cooling water flow. No cooling water flow, the exhaust temp. instantly goes through the ceiling.

Granted, no cooling water flow will eventually overheat the engine. However, in the case of plenty of cooling water flow and a scaled up heat Xchanger, no change to exhaust temp. but the engine cooks.

Works for me, I have a clean HX plus I glance at the temp gauge often. I mostly want to know if the raw water intake gets clogged or the pump fails.

My engine came with an over-temperature alarm connected to the high frequency buzzer in the engine control panel. My 74 year old ears no longer hear that alarm frequency with the engine running. I put a small marine boat horn near the helm electrically in parallel with the engine temperature sender. That alarm will wake the dead and even I can hear that one.

My M25 XP had the second port with a plug in it. I bought the sensor and
2 tone alarm from CD. Worked great.
