Adding backstay to H 23

Has anyone added a backstay adjuster to a Hunter 23? I am looking to add one to mine. I am racing it in a PHRF fleet and looking for ways to better my sail shape. Or should I even put the time in to trying to put one on?

I put a large carabiner around the lower backstay wires to tension the backstay for racing. Unfortunately, my racing skills were not good enough to tell if it helped! Anyone?
