Adding an engine monitor for a Universal M-25XPBC?

I purchased an aftermarket NMEA2000 Engine Monitor that I want to connect with my Universal engine. The monitor device is talking to the Garmin chartplotter as it shows up as an "Engine" with all the associated sensor attributes that come with it. I want to monitor oil pressure, coolant temperature and engine RPM. I connected the coolant temp to the temperature sensor on the engine as well as the oil pressure sensor. However, both report 0 when the engine is running and warmed up. If I stop the engine and turn off the key, values display that are out of range. If I turn the key back on, the values go back to 0. I'm curious if anyone has tried to do this and what worked for them?

Can anyone confirm which connection on the back of the alternator is the correct one to measure tach? I thought it was the AC side, but I'm not sure which that is?

I'll note that with these connections, the existing analog engine monitor continues to function as before.

Update: Looking at the wiring diagram for my boat (Catalina 310) shared below, the oil pressure sensor may only be a switch and not pressure range. IT seems I may need to add a sensor for that off of the existing tee.

thanks!

Wondering if that second GND needs to be connected on the device?

Temperature sensor connection >> see yellow wire connection.

I added the yellow wire connection for the oil pressure sensor shown below.

I did a quick search for this device and while I get hits on eBay, etc., I can't find a manual. Do you have a manual? Is it online, i.e., in a form you can share?

I would imagine that second ground is the engine ground, the first one just the ground return for the power supply, and that they may be internally isolated, so, yes, I guess it should be connected.

the device is sold on Amazon. Here’s a pic of the manual. Thanks

Thanks! Is that the entire manual? :)

I'd lvoe to know more. Is it programmable in any way? Any configuration software included or available?

Thanks,

jv

Following up, on this, I found manual page 2, and an accompanying illustration for this on an eBay listing. I'll try to attach them to this post.

My interest is that I have had the Noland Engineering RS-11 on my wish list for a couple of years, but this Chinese unit (clone?) is about 1/3 the price. However, the Noland documentation and support are apparently far superior! Has anyone else grappled with this?

Is the thing compatible with Diesel engines (and a 3-cylinder engine to boot)? The settings seem to indicate outboard or inboard gas engine, and inboards start at 4 cylinders… Maybe I am reading it wrong.

It is a bit confusing, but that might be a translation thing more than a device thing. It mentions diesel in that chart on page 2.

That's why I may still be inclined to purchase the Noland RS-11, for the programmability, documentation, and support. It's pricey, but I am tired of science projects on the boat, and appreciate things that work as expected. :)

I do see the diesel reference…sorry I missed that.
