Adding Air to a 35

Thinking of adding air to my 35 oday. The boats not all that big and its hard trying to decide where to put it. Any body have experience in this area?thanks

35 air system

Purchased an 35' w/ a.c/heat pump unit in starboard forward hanging locker. The duct work runs on starboard side w/ one vent into the v-verth and one into the saloon. Good set-up overall, however, if you cd direct two ducts into the saloon while retaining one forward wd be preferrablesemper fi

Hi Bill:I have an O'34 with a 16000btu Marine Air Systems (Airrrrr) reverse cycle in the storage compartment under the starboard side seat at the forward bulkhead. It's a squeeze but it will fit. It was necessary to enlarge the hole in the access and a larger panel had to be made to fit the hole. The pump and strainer are in the bottom of forward starboard hanging locker. The return is in the fiberglass adjacent to the unit. There are three ducts, one on the starboard side forward bulkhead, one at the chart table, with duct up through the hanging locker, and a small one in the v-berth bulkhead just above the drawers.Based on your location, you might be able to get away with a smaller unit but the 16000 was necessary down here.Luck with it!!

Another location for AC

When I purchased my O35 it had a water source heat pump installed (don't know the size and make). Provides heat or cooling, depending on the thermostat setting. The compressor is located in the starboard cockpit lazerette, next to the water heater. One supply duct runs aft to the bulkhead, exiting in the galley area at about eye level. The other supply duct is located at the aft end of the rear quarter berth. The return duct is located low in the galley area, in a space where I suspect a drawer used to be. (We have two drawers and the duct is below these.) The seacock, pump and strainer are located in the engine compartment, along the starboard side. There is also a thru hull on the stern for the exit water. The one thing I don't like about the installation is the space lost in the lazerette with the compressor and ducts. While this set up does not result in fully conditioning the boat, it seems to be enough to make it relatively comfortable in the saloon area in hot weather and chilly spring/fall nights.
