For those of you that have air conditioning on your Hunter 45 or simular boat where did you locate it and will I need two units.

Two Units

I do not have a 45, but installed air conditioning on my 34. Running distribution ducting is a royal PIA. It is much easier to install multiple units on your boat. Your boat will be zoned so the forward and aft area can be set a different temperatures or so that one area can be totally turned off to save amperage, for instance when running the generator. I considered installing a 12,000 BTU unit in the main cabin of my 34 and a 5,000 in the forward area. If I lived in Texas or south Florida I would have followed through, but here in the Chesapeake we have been happy with only the 12,000 and a strong circulating fan.

Lowell, we have two reverse cycle units on...

our 1991 P42. A Marine Air 16K BTU unit beneath the starboard setee in the main cabin and a 9K BTU unit beneath the aft berth. The factory installed all of the four inch duct work on the starboard side for each unit. We've never had a need to use the units to cool the boat, but the heat comes in handy during the cooler winter temps. If this is the route you choose you will need to install a generator to run them while away from shore power. Our boat came with an 8kw Onan Genset. Terry
