does the spinnaker topping lift add efficiency and ease, or is it required for proper, safe operation of the spinnaker. i'm adding a spinnaker to a 1997 23.5. The spinnaker eye bolt is no problem (47.5 inches from the base) but adding the spinnaker topping lift block is. while i can add it at the end of the season, dropping the mast to add it now is a problem. Also, is the jib halyard used to raise the spinnaker or do I need to add another block and line.
