Adding a Radar Display

Has anyone added a radar (Raytheon Pathfinder) display on the 376? I have three instruments accross the top and the VHF in the lower left. Somethings got to be moved, added, or deleated! Any Ideas would be helpful. Thanks, Doug Alden

Radar Location

I mounted mine with a bracket on top of the front of the console. I thought it might be kind of high, but it turns out to be very visible when needed.Good luck.Doug Merrills/v Dream Catcher

Radar screen mounting location

We are having the same dilema. Since we sail the Ches Bay and only head to New England every 3-4 yrs I will probably mount at the Nav Station. That will still be a problem, unless we use a mounting bracket of some sort. The way the nav area is designed, it doesn't leave too many options. If you find a good solution, let me know.

My solution

On our 380 we did the following;Put radar on mast near top spreadrers.In the cockpit at the front (forward end) of the binnacle is a small stainless grabrail. I took this off and bought a bigger stainless grabrail with a mounting pod. Edson I believe. Radar lays right in, no exposed wires, you still have a grab rail when you come up from below. It was a beautiful idea, and the other instruments and VHF can be left alone. Grabrail, mount, pod, and removal of old grabrail during commissioning costs about $500, but after having lived with it a year, I wouldn't do it any other way.Bob KnottH380

Compass interference

Wouldn't mounting the display or any other electronics on the grab rail at the wheel cause interference with the most important instrument on the boat...the compass

Wrong Grab rail

Bill,Wrong grab rail. The radar/chartplotter is mounted to the forward grab rail on the binnacle of my 380. The one you grab when you come up from the companionway. The rear grab rail by the compass is a bad place for placement. the replacement rail also is slightly bent so when you are standing at the helm you view is perfect.
