I am adding a spinnaker to my 23.5 I have an old spinnaker (in good shape ) from a mcgregor venture (23.5 1967). I am adding an eye to the mast for the spinnaker pole ( whisker pole?) by drilling and taping 4 holes in the mast to attach the spinaker eye. The mast is aluminum, the spinaker mast eye is stainless steel, and the #10 screws are stainless steel. Any suggestions or warnings??

Galvanic isolation

If you are sailing in salt water, put some anti-seize compound on the screw threads to electrically isolate the SS from the aluminum. This will minimize corrosion between the two metals.

Technical data

If you do not have an owner's manual for the 23.5, I would suggest that you obtain one as it has information for placement of the hardware for a spinnaker.
