Adding 2nd reef to Isomat boom

My Legend 37 came with one reef point for the main on the Isomat boom. The literature shows how to rig the boom and sail for a second reef point. I found a company online that has repair parts for the system and it seems that any sailmaker could modify the sail pretty easily. Has anyone on here ever added a second reef point? Was it worth it? I already have jib roller furling. I sail single or short handed all the time so reefing is very important to me in a big light boat like the Legend 37. I plan to cruise single handed in the future too. Also it looks like the previous owner oversized the reefing control lines to 1/2 vice 7/16 or 3/8. This makes the system very stiff to get through the control cams. Any input on the size of control lines you are using?

Looks easy but it ain't

Adding a reef to a sail involves (if done properly) recutting the portion above the reef so it will be the right shape when you reef it that far. It also involves strengthing patches at the tack and clew and of course the reef ties. Then there is the leach line to consider with it's hardware and chafe patches. All hand or special machine work! I would look at the price of a new sail and compair it to the price of getting the reef installed and then make your decision. I think you will find that, for a sail that is older, it will be cheaper in the long run to just go get a new one.
