I perfected an 8-foot pole that extends from the anchor locker out a good 4-5 feet. Send me your email and I give you the pix and directions.

anchor roller?

"Bowsprit" refers to the spar itself. Anchor rollers, sometimes called "bow rollers," often extend beyond the bow in sprit-like manner, but are not properly called sprits. To make this thoroughly confusing, some boats have "bow planks" through which anchor fairleads are led. And of course some cutters, such as the traditional Hans Christians, have bow planks atop their bowspirts. None of this was confusing, of course, until some of us started welding bails to our anchor rollers to which we could "anchor" our tack lines for asymetrical spinnakers, which means that our anchor rollers actually function as sprits. Sheesh. ............ So what was it you were looking for? *666

Bill, I'm real interested....

...in your design of the 8ft pole that extends from the anchor locker. I've been working on this idea for a while, but haven't found the right fit yet. Is the pole retractable like the sport boats use? What did you make the pole out of or was it a stock item that you purchased? Send me an email with as many pics as you can, Thanks, Alan email: US43948@optonline.net
