Isn't life great?

I have sure seen some intresting posts on my computer. Thanks for posting this one. I am new to your forum and love to read the posts and replys here as there is a real good group of people sharing information and experiences with not only O'Day sailboaters but all other cousin sailboats too. That is nice. With all this said, when I have found my preloved sail boat. (going back to my roots in my retirement) I will reveal my true identy py charlie

Check out this ebay auction :)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5614695213 And you HAVE to read ALL of it! :) Btw, John...a cashiers check is no guarantee that the check is any good. The real pro scammers create checks that are so good that they fool even the most careful banks. You won't know it's no good till it bounces.

Tell Me Peggie.....

... considering all your posts here I always thought you were a fairly straight and consertive business woman .... Soooo.... now we know! Please explain - just how did you "happen" to come across this ad???? By the way, don't you have enough to do surfing all these web sites and posting replies, writing books, etc., ???? Mom always told me "you could judge a person by their friends" .... so,... in today's day and age, what about the web pages they visit???? That one was a real doozy! And another editorial comment: With the price of fuel going the way it's headed that old buss is probably best just left parked in the grass. Personally, I don't think a true hippie experience wouldn't be complete without attending a Rainbow be-in but who needs a bus, eh? Just out in the open au natural! But then maybe times have changed. Peace!

Your image of me is still intact... :)

No, I don't troll the 'net looking for strange and wonderful stuff...Someone on the CSBB http://www.cs-bb.com/forums/CSBB/index.cgi posted the link under the header "Now THIS is an eBay auction!" I couldn't resist finding out what. The CSBB ("cruising sailors bulletin board"), btw, is another of the sailboatowners.com sites. Same format as the trailer sailer board. Phil added it when World Publications (new owners of Cruising World magazine) killed the CWBB. You might want to check it out. The CSBB a bit of a free-for-all, but some VERY knowledgable sailors hang out there...and sometimes even actually discuss sailing and cruising. :) It's easy to avoid the BS...just do what you do here: skip the headers that don't interest you, read the ones that do. Btw...I was in Seattle last week, giving seminars every day at the Boats Afloat Show at Lake Union...don't recall seeing you there.

Ahhhh.... [sigh of relief!]

...and besides, a bus that size is not in the true keeping of hippie life. One really needs a VW bus. Last week I was up taking it easy in the Gulf Islands - Maple Bay, Ganges, Sidney, and Winter Cove. Winter Cove is between Mayne, Samuel (a smallish island), and Saturna Islands [picture attached]. There is a park with really nice walking trails and a beautiful view of the Strait of Georgia. So, while other people were looking at boat "stuff" in Seattle I was anchored out (boat on left) and enjoying peace and quiet in Winter Cove. Ohhh, and the sunset! (Oops - only one picture per post) Sailboats need to watch the shallow area for anchoring because the bay is nortorious for sailboat groundings at low tides. The past several weeks were just wonderful. Nice winds, two rain spells, quiet and not-so-croweded anchorages, and generally it was very restful. In the past it was not uncommon for us to average 40 miles a day over a couple weeks but this year it was different because I didn't go far at all. In fact, I spent two days at the Capital City Yacht Club reciprocal dock (until the afternoon) and then in the afternoon moved over to the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club to use their reciprocal (a distance of about 200 feet!). *yawn* Enjoyed some absolutely terrific sails! On one occasion there were two couples on a newer 42-footer who motor-sailed past us then turned off the motor, set their Genoa, and then we proceeded to sail past them with our older 35-footer and 110! Probably thanks to our feathering prop. Then we sailed up the channel to Maple Bay catching and almost passing another sailboat who was under sail and sometimes power. The skipper (who races his boat) commented how well our boat sails. All this in just one afternoon. How sweet it is. Just happened to hit the Farmers Market in Ganges and the Salt Spring Island Fair on the same weekend - the Admiral was on cloud 9! (this helped my approval rating - somewhat) Had to be home yesterday to attend a meeting and then it's back to the boat in a day or two.

....very nice marina!

David - Your Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club is in a very nice marina and has a very nice visitor dock and stately looking club house in true yacht club tradition. We really admired the gorgeous view from the club house of the harbor and Haro Strait. There are so many sailboats there that there is no way I could remember all the ones I walked past from the visitor dock to the entrance. From the visitor dock (really like that large concrete dock by the way) at high tide we also had the same great view of the harbor over the breakwater. It's a real pleasure visiting - you treat your guests royally! Had an interesting experience in the morning. Went to dispose of the garbage (another one of the Captains duties) and there was a raccoon in the dumpster! Between the eagles, herons, ravens, squirrels, etc. this is one critter you don’t want to mess with! This explained why the dogs around there were a bit skittish that morning. Can those raccoons really jump that high (to get out of the dumpster) or do they just stay in there until the dumpster fills up to a certain point so they can get out? I can just imagine opening the lid and having that critter jump out at you!!! Attached is another view of Winter Cove but this time near sunset. As the sun went down the temperature really started dropping from the 60s quickly into the 50s with an overnight low in the 40s. No sirens, vehicle traffic noises, etc. but only croaking frogs at night from some marshes in the park and the occasional faint toot of the low-pitched air horn from a small inter-island BC ferry. The next day we had a great sail, 20-something miles, across the Strait of Georgia to Blaine and Semiahmoo Marina. The water was unusually flat with very small waveletts and the wind varied up to about 8kts on a close reach to close hauled. Clearing customs was an ordeal. Docked first at Semiahmoo, called customs, then had to take the boat over to Blaine, clear, then return. On the plus side I got lots of good docking practice as by then the forecasted high afternoon winds kicked in. So who wants to go back home or go to work?
