Has anyone had the Acugages on their boat long enough to have a feel for long term accuracy and stability?

They're VERY accurate...IF--

You take the time to calibrate them according to the instructions in the owners manual.

So Far, So Good

I now pump out the holding tank when the Acugauge says full instead of when the vent leaks. And when the water tank Acugauge reaches half full, I refill. Had them for about a year and no complaints. Also good people to work with. I have one of the first special Acugauges that work with a metal holding tank.

Input from Hunter tech support on the "new gages"

Peggy - I was told by someone at Hunter tech support that they have been having problems with "the new gages". Flaky readings, they claim. Have you heard anything about this?

P

Peggie Hall/Head Mistress

Haven't heard that...however,

The AcuGage has to be calibrated after it's installed. It's easy to do, but it requires filling tanks and making adjustments, especially to non-rectangular tanks. If that's not done, "flaky" readings are indeed possible. I'll check with Hunter and Dennis at AcuGage on Monday to see what they have to say.

I think that they were a different brand of gauges

I don't believe that the Acugauges are offered by Hunter on their boats. I installed mine myself after overflowing the holding tank with company on board twice. I also couldn't tell the level in the water tank until it reached the bottom. This is on a Hunter 35.5.

Hunter just switched to AcuGage, Jim...

So recently that they still have to modify the grid system on a few models to be able to install 'em. But I suspect you're right...it's the Wema gauges they were using that he's heard about, 'cuz I haven't heard about ANY problems with AcuGage, ever..on Hunters or any other boats. And I THINK I would have.

New Gauges

Larry: I have heard of no "Flaky Readings" from Hunter. At first we had a few problems with the installation being this was new to them but we are working very close with Hunter. Change takes a little time. Assembly line production is a lot different then a single person installing a unit. Our customer satisfaction is VERY high. Dennis Ferriello Snake River Electronics

Considering the AcuGage technology, I would expect

was surprised when I was told this by one of the Hunter factory service personnel. So, I thought I'd check it out on this list. All the responses are much appreciated.

Larry

Like I said before our units are very accurate and if installed properly we have had no problems. The Acugage has been manufactured for over 20 years in the RV industry and we have been in the Marine industry for just about 4 years. For 4 years we have had little to no problems. If we have a problem we are on top of it and get it corrected. Customer satisfaction is first we us as well as communciation with our customers. Thanks for your interest Dennis Ferriello Sales Manager Snake River Electronics

376 Retrofit Help

I have been trying to figure out how my recently purchased acuguages are going to get out of the box and onto the odd shaped inaccesable sides of my 1996 376. I don't see how I'm going to get them the whole depth externally of either water or waste tanks . Would appreciate any input private or a TECH SUPPORT # AT ACUGAGE. THANKS

Mark: Send you phone number and I will call to discuss the installation. Remember where the tape starts and stops is the empty and full on the tanks so it is not crucial that you be all the way to the top or bottom. You want of course to be at least 3/4 or more to the top on the waste and try and be at least down to 1/4 to the bottom on the fresh. Like I said send me your phone and I will try and help you. long term accuracy and stability

Larry: We have been in the Marine industry for about 4 years. Have not had and long term accuracy or stability problems. We have been suppling Newmar industries I think for around 14 years. They build around 4,000 high end motor homes a year, we have very few if any problems. Like Jim Rushing said on this page. " I now pump out the holding tank when the Acugauge says full instead of when the vent leaks. And when the water tank Acugauge reaches half full, I refill. Had them for about a year and no complaints. Also good people to work with. I have one of the first special Acugauges that work with a metal holding tank." Thanks again for your input. Exrtaordinary Service

A product is often judged by the sevice backing it up. Dennis called me the day after I contacted him for advice on installation. He called me on his holiday so as to avoid interupting my workday. If the reliability and longgevity of the Acuguage is half as good as the service from the Snake River Folks we'll all be winners. Thanks Dennis for the help.
