Hi all'

Has the Active Captain website been taken down. I sometimes check for information while at home and cannot get on through my old link.

Garmin owns it, and Navionics now. :(
The jury is still out. But it may turn I out to be a good thing. The alternative was for Navionics and AC to face bankruptcy or just shutting their doors in lieu of selling. Garmin is the big gorilla. They buy up tech or they create it. The latter displaces the smaller fish.

I see Garmin as primarily a hardware company, with software/data that are designed to sell more devices.
Those devices, increasingly have little more to offer with each upgrade.
All while presenting data which is paid for by taxpayers. (or now given to them for free)

Like similar navigation companies, any time a platform exists that threatens that closed model, they kill it in some way.
I figure that AC will slowly become Garmin only. Then another AC will pop up.
