I have a Pro-furl roller furling on my Catalina 30 tall rig bow sprit. I went down to the boat today to take the jib off of the forestay. I usually pull it down for the winter.
When I released the halyard the jib dropped about 1/2 of an inch or 1 inch. After that the unit wouldn't raise or lower.
I looked aloft and saw that the part where the halyard attaches that rotates to keep the halyard straight was still spinning but it was not staying directly lined up with the mast. There is a piece at the top of the foil that is shaped like a half circle. That piece seems to have turned 180 degrees and I am thinking that the piece is keeping the halyard from coming down.
I don't have a bosun's chair and there was no one down at the dock to help me. My jib is now furled around the forestay until I get my Uncle down here to send him aloft to try to free the jam.
This is fustrating. Anyone have any ideas on ways to fix this?
