access to U bolt in bow?

How do I access the U bolt in the bow to change it and the backing plate? The boat is a second generation C22. I tried removing the wood panels from the cabin interior. The anchor locker has a small round access port well above the place where the U bolt is attached on the inside of the bow. I still can not even see the rear of the U bolt much less change it. Thanks, Tom
