Just to let anyone know that I believe that there was a recent article in Cruising World on the history of the Columbia company

Wrong Mag!

Nope! The magazine was the latest issue of Good Old Boat. The article was written by Mike Keers, founder of C-NUZ and Columbia Yacht Owners Association. This issue also carried an review of our "Guide to Columbia Sailing Yachts" CD. Paul (Capt'n Pauley) Esterle Captn Pauley Video Productions www.captnpauley.bigstep.com

thank you for the correction.

Great article. Very insightful to a first time boat owner like myself. How could I buy that CD? Renee

Did you see the nice little article in SAIL last month about a restored C24? Good Old Boat has another article (about C28 this time) this month. Columbias are becomming "hip"... again> Bill Kerr http://www.worldzone.net/company/bkerr822/Avion.htm

Columbia's becomming 'Hip'

Sorry, but Columbias have been 'Hip' for several years. They're a very solid boat. If it was taken care of, great. If not you have some work ahead of you. I have about $25K in my Columbia 36, and it would take around $150K to replace her. There is a boat in my marina that I would trade for, A Hunter Passage 450, but I would not trade for the $2K-a-month boat payments! Captain Pauley is usually on the Sailnet Columbia List and you can order the CD from him. Cam Whetstone s/v C36 - Wolf's Den Baltimore, Md. USA

two artices

Saw the one in "Sail" and heared about "good old boat". I own a '63 c-24. I love it. She is sound and a great sailor but the $30,000 that guy put in his (sail)was a bit much. I like mine with her 8 hs. 4stroke Honda and the wheel must take up too much cockpit. As for the paint job I did two coats of brightside over a primer with great results. My good wife got me a 4" foam roller. I tried to tip it with a foam brush with bad results, so I stopped right away and just tried to roll out the bubbles. That is when I found the trick. Very light touch and as little paint as possable. It looks sprayed! and no tipping. happy sailing B.
