Hi all, I have an 85 H 34 and am leaving to do some cruising in a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone had figured out an easy method to access their fresh water system in case the 12 v pump fails? I dont have a manual fresh or sea water pump though I am considering one. Anyone figure out something simple? Thanks!

This brings up more bad old memories

On our H34 our pump died in La Paz. Water was running onto the floor because a diaphragm ruptured. (Shurflow). We looked everywhere and couldn't find the correct kit. Seems to me that it leaked until we gave up and bought a new pump. Then that pump was weak. I traced the problem to a nick in the wiring. The factory damaged the wire when installing it. All they did was nick the cover to expose the conductor and that let corrosion eat away the copper so the flow of power stopped. Of course, the damage was hidden in a beam. This was in the winter of '92. Peggie, you've done it again. Oh, there is more new stuff on our web site.

Whalegusher

I just got a whalegusher off ebay for about 25 bucks. Foot operated. Gonna install it at the galley sink for just such occaisions. I do the 12V only thing so its probable I'll need it! IJ

Plastic jugs

Our fresh water pump died on a cruise two years ago. Since we were in a remote area at the time, I just drained water from the tank into plastic jugs until we reached the next town. Replacing the pump is pretty straightforward. Gary Wyngarden S/V Shibumi H335
