Access hatch to engine cooling valve

I've seen pictures of an access hatch to the engine cooling valve (and possibly the macerator thru hull, depending on your plumbing) under the aft berth. Was that something Catalina did in some of the boats, or only an owner option? Having that would sure make it more likely that I'd close the cooling water thru hull when not on the boat.

If you did it yourself I'd be interested in knowing which hatch you used. Looking at the Bomar and Tempress hatches at WMP and SBO the smallest one looks just a bit too big to fit in the space.

Stock on #45 also.
So somewhere between 31 and 45 they started adding it. Maybe I'll call Catalina and see if I can get the door and frame from them.

I believe that was the time production shifted from California to Florida. Spoke with Warren about something a while ago and he had a little trouble finding it because half of my boat was built in California and the other in Florida.

Paul, I think he's looking for a picture of the access hatch to the engine cooling thru hull. IIRC the one I've seen was from you, maybe showing the railing you added to the steps?

That's the picture I remember!! Is that yours or Paul's? Thanks.
My boat, but I think that most of them look like this. Let me know if you need a close up. If so, I will go down to the boat tomorrow night and get one for you.

BTW, the first thing I did on buying the boat was replace the companionway treads. The second thing was replace the main sheet cleat

So, it was there all along?

Some things sneak up on you like that.

Any chance anybody is close enough to their boat to measure the dimensions of the door frame? Catalina will make me a new one, but they don't seem to have the size written down anywhere, and I'm not close to the boat right now.

Thanks in advance!

The opening is 8" by 4.25" the overall hatch with trim is 11.25" by 7.5".

Good luck.
